I could start this blog post off with an apology for my absence over the last several months, but I won’t. Instead, I’ll tell you that I’ve been working diligently at a new project that’s taken the lion’s share of my time, energy, and efforts lately, leaving me with little to no time to devote to this blog.
I will, however, start this blog post off by saying I’ve had a change of heart, and things are going to be different around here. I’d fallen prey to the internet’s pull on creative expression with the insistence of SEO-friendly writing and formatting, but I’ve decided to march to the beat of my own drum; to go old school, and revive what a blog was always meant to be – a web log. So, from here on in, my blogs will lack the organized structure we’ve all grown accustomed to, or tired of, and will be more a storytelling and sharing of my thoughts as they flow from my heart and/or mind, and bounce off the keys of my laptop.
I’ve missed being able to express myself through the written word. As some of you know, my husband and I have been running a podcast for nearly a year now called About That Life. I’ve loved our conversations on that platform, but felt a void of being able to voice myself to my own audience. One that could quietly read my words, and hopefully leave challenged, inspired, or just leave feeling something…anything.
As my readers, I consider you my friends. You who take a moment to click on a link leading you into my little corner of the world wide web. Into my online “home”, where I hope to bring you my best. To serve you with helpful advice, share my thoughts, teach you what I’ve learned, and hopefully learn from you. It’s no different than if you were right here with me in my physical home, sitting on my couch, having a conversation with me in person.
The content of this platform will still be much of the same, as it’s what interests me most, but as someone who refuses to be shoved into a proverbial “content category”, I’ll also be writing about things that aren’t so closely related to business, personal finance, or leadership (or aren’t they?). For instance, I may throw in my thoughts on friendships, on love, on family, or religion.
Yes, this is my little corner of the internet. One where I can kick back, get comfortable, and invite you to join me on the fun. I hope you enjoy this new format. I’ll be writing the way I want to write. The way I think. The way I best express myself, and the way I feel is best for connecting with my fellow man and woman.
Here’s to calling the shots in life and on your own blog…
